How we use regulators’ documents

We maintain the integrity of your documents ensuring that the regulation as written is untransformed.

Our data is linked to the original source document

We are committed to treating regulatory data with the highest standards of integrity and accuracy. We maintain the original format and source attribution of all regulatory documents, ensuring no alteration or misrepresentation occurs.

Our process enhances accessibility by enriching documents with structured metadata, making it easier for users to locate and interpret regulatory content relevant to their needs without altering its fundamental meaning or context. This approach provides value while upholding the original intent and source credibility of the data, reflecting our commitment to transparency and respect for regulators.

Our data structures are developed in partnership with the University of Cambridge and regulatory bodies. This collaboration ensures that our metadata is linked to the original source documents, delivering assurance of its integrity, reliability, and relevancy.

For a deeper understanding of our approach, request our Statement of Principles to see how we ensure the ethical use of regulators’ content.

Do other publishers share their data?

Yes, many publishers share their data.  The majority of legislative and regulatory content related to financial services is open in some form.  This may be due to the publisher terms allowing for commercial distribution, Creative Commons or similar licenses, or legal stipulations that exempt government works from copyright protection.  However, this volume-based view is heavily influenced by the large amount of content from US federal and EU institutional content available on such terms. In practice, a majority of regulatory and legislative publishers grant permissions on a bilateral  basis as opposed adopting a blanket open data regime.
